More than anything, each person wants to feel seen and known by others.
Living loved is a need everyone has.
Jesus took Peter, John, and James to the mountain to pray. As Jesus was praying, something spectacular happened… it was as if they were watching a movie. Jesus’ face changed, and his clothes shone brightly as lightning. Suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared, and they talked with Jesus about his departure.
Meanwhile, Peter, John, and James struggled to keep awake. But once they woke up, they saw a magnificent beauty… it was simply beyond words… the glory of Jesus, Moses, and Elijah.
God pulled back the curtains and allowed Peter and his friends to see Jesus for who he really is. They were eyewitnesses to his power, glory, and majesty (2 Peter 1:16).
Recently when I visited Hawaii, I saw some stunning and glorious sunsets at the beach. But these pale in comparison to the magnificent view Peter and his friends experienced on the mountain with Jesus.
Lord, you know everything there is to know about me. Psalm 139:1
Jesus was Seen, Known, and Loved.
You are Seen, Known, and Loved.
I am Seen, Known, and Loved.
Knowing we are seen and known by God frees us to live wholeheartedly. It affirms God’s love for us and strengthens our connection with him.
Prayer
Lord, thank you for the indescribable gift of your son Jesus, the Light of the world. I can never live without you. I surrender my life and give all to you… my heart, worries, fears, distractions, and to-dos. I simply want to come away with you. May you be the center of my attention and love in the quiet and stillness. Open my eyes to behold your beauty and majesty in a new way. Help me to truly see you for who you are, my Savior, Lord, and friend. Thank you for your presence and overflowing goodness in my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
How can knowing you are understood and loved help you live fully and experience true joy this Christmas?
Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him. Luke 9:32
