Scripture Treasure
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 NLT
Our scripture for today calls us to cast our cares. What does this mean? To cast our cares means to give, exchange, throw upon, offload, or turn over our fears, stresses, worries, and daily struggles to the Lord.
Let me illustrate. One day while out walking after a snowstorm, I saw a tree bent over with a heavy accumulation of snow. The tree also had several broken branches. The tree was weighed down by the load of snow it was carrying.
Friend, You and I are like that tree when we carry our own burdens. We are weighed down with, worries, fears, and anxieties.
The daily news about wars, the threat of wars and other sad events around the world also compounds our fears.
What keeps you awake at night?
Perhaps you worry about your job, finances, your children, your marriage.
All these worries add nothing to our lives but steal our inner peace and joy.
Worry adds nothing to your life but steals your inner peace and joy.
But there is good news. Today’s scripture verse encourages you and me to throw our cares, worries, and burdens upon God.
God cares deeply for you and me. Instead of worry, let’s humbly go before the Lord in prayer and give him whatever is that is keeping you awake at night.
Trust him to handle your situation in the way that is best for your good, and for his glory.
What cares are you willing to cast and trust Jesus with today?
