Welcome to Day 12 of Prayer Treasures.
Where will you turn for strength to pursue your vision and goals in 2020?
Scripture Treasure
They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, “Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.” But I prayed, “Now strengthen my hands.” Nehemiah 6:9 NIV
Yesterday we talked about courage. Today we are going to add Strength in prayer to our treasure toolbox.
Nehemiah’s vision was to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. When he heard about the condition exiles and the wall, he was heartbroken. He prayed and asked God to grant him favor with the king so he could go to Jerusalem.
When he set about to start rebuilding, he faced all kinds of opposition such as distraction, criticisms, fear, temptation, and intimidation. What was Nehemiah’s response? He prayed a simple prayer, Lord I need your strength.
He didn’t pay attention to the opposition or get distracted. He stayed focused.
What is your vision for 2020? What are your goals?
Nehemiah’s vision was to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. Perhaps your goal is to start a business, write a book, take a class, lose a few pounds, or learn a new skill, make time for self- care, or grow your relationship with God. Whatever your goals are you can expect opposition.
What would your response be to any opposition you might face? Will you give in to fear or like Nehemiah, pray and ask God to strengthen your hand.
Read Nehemiah 1:4–11. Adapt and personalize Nehemiah’s prayer for your specific situation.
