We are continuing our series on “Stories of Hope” featuring friends, some of whom are sisters, mothers, grandmothers, and their experience with Hope. In this post, Swannie Haigler shares her experience of hope and comfort in her journey with Jesus. I pray her story blesses you.

I was saved as a child but I was not raised in a Christian home. I had a schoolteacher who read the Bible to us each morning and I remember those lessons even today. I even remember the first bible verses I learned, John 14:1-3
Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:1-3 NIV
I married a Christian man in 1953. Our first date was going to church. I rededicated my life to Christ Jesus and we attended church together as long as he lived.
There has been a lot of sadness in my life over the years. But my Lord has always been there for me. There were times when I felt so alone. The Lord was there to comfort me. So without Him, I would not be here today. God only knows where I would be. I cannot thank Him or praise Him enough for His love and mercy.

Stories of Hope: Comfort and Peace are Possible
Our life will not always be without difficulties but we can trust in God’s comfort and peace that is beyond all understanding. Just as God has been with Ms. Swannie all these years, and seen her through both good and bad times, He is also with you in your situation. Call on Him in prayer.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 NIV
Further Encouragement: John 14:16-19, Psalm 46:1, Nahum 1:7
Ms. Swannie Haigler is known for giving heartfelt and warm hugs. I call them Divine hugs. No Sunday worship service is complete without a hug from Ms. Swannie. Sometimes ladies wait in line to receive a hug from her. She is sweet and passionate about Jesus. She leads the JOY Class at LifeSpring Church in Durham. Ms. Swannie is a blessing to her family and others as she shares the love of Jesus with them.
