When you drive at night, your vehicle’s headlights don’t light up your entire trip at once. Because you can only see a few feet ahead, you’ve got to trust that you’ll end up at your destination if you keep going, slow and steady. Today’s post is about trusting God with your future.
As you go after your dreams this year, it may not always be smooth sailing and steady. Circumstances and events can crop up that cause a change in your plans.
How will trusting God with your future and vision even when things don’t go as planned help you?
While Babylon was taking over Israel, God commanded the prophet Jeremiah to buy a plot of land. It wasn’t part of his plan, and while it didn’t make any sense, he decided to trust the Lord and purchase the field at Anathoth (Jeremiah 32:6-9).
If we want to fulfill our dreams and goals this year, we too will need to trust and allow God to mold our plans according to his will. The changes may be difficult or not to our liking, but we can trust God to steer us along the best path.
In the previous post, we looked at Nehemiah turning his vision into reality by sitting with God in prayer, walking out his plans by taking action, and standing despite obstacles. Bringing our vision into reality requires trusting God.
How will you write your plans in pencil and give God the eraser to shape them this year?
Trusting God with Your Future : 7 Scriptures to Help You
What can we learn about trusting God with our future in the Bible? You can trust him to guide you with loving care and give you peace every step of the way.
You are secure in him because his plan is to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Here are a few scriptures to help you depend on God as you pursue your dreams and goals this year.
- You, Lord, give true peace to those who depend on you because they trust you. So, trust the Lord always, because he is our Rock forever. Isaiah 26:3-4
- Trust the Lord with all your heart, and don’t depend on your own understanding. Remember the Lord in all you do, and he will give you success. Proverbs 3:5-6 NCV
- Some trust in chariots, others in horses, but we trust the Lord our God. Psalm 20:7 NCV
- Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed. Proverbs 16:3 AMPC
- The angel of the Lord surrounds those who fear him, and he delivers them. Psalm 34:7 ISV
- And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28 NLT
- No one has ever seen this, and no one has ever heard about it. No one has ever imagined what God has prepared for those who love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9 NCV
The truth is trusting God with our future is not easy because we like to be in control. But as you yield to him in faith, you will see his plans as he unfolds them to you.
