Christmas is my favorite. But with the hustle and bustle, it can be stressful because we’re trying to fulfill all our to-do lists and enjoy all the activities.

In the weeks and days leading up to Christmas, I invite you to Come Away with Jesus by reading through the Gospel of Luke. Read a chapter a day and prayerfully search for its unique treasures. Write down your insights and prayers in a journal.

My prayer is that you’ll experience his love, rest, and peace.

Each day, I’ll share the treasures I gained from the day’s Chapter during my time with Jesus.

Hope in Waiting

Come Away with Jesus-Hope in Waiting

Day 1: Read Luke Chapter 1

Have you ever faced an impossible situation?

Zechariah and his wife, Elizabeth, are ordinary people like you and me. They came from good families and served God faithfully for a long time. But there was one problem, Elizabeth was barren. Both of them were now elderly, so it didn’t look like they would ever have children (Luke 1:7).

Elizabeth and her husband knew first-hand what it feels like to be disappointed. They trusted God and waited for a long time, yet the situation looked hopeless and impossible. Hope deferred makes the heart sick.

But God often answers prayers in his own way and in his own time. He can turn any impossible situation around. As I sit and reflect on my own difficult struggles and long-awaited answers to prayers, I’m encouraged to hold on to hope in the waiting.

What disappointments, heartaches, regrets, or unsolvable problems do you need to bring before God this Christmas season?

I’d love to hear about your experience. Feel free to share your insights in the comments.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, reveal your power and glory to me in a fresh new way. Help me experience joy as I wait on you in hope. Amen.

Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord will fulfill his promises to her! Luke 1:45
