Excerpts from our conversation on work-life balance
Tope: And so, being a pharmacist, how did you balance your professional life, being a wife and a mother?
Bola: [00:08:49] It was hard. I would say that. I will acknowledge that because sometimes when you think about where you are now, [00:09:00] what you have achieved, you think, yeah. You know, it was easy. It wasn’t easy. There were challenges that you quite right.
Bola: [00:09:09] Um, just finding that balance was tricky. Now whether I got it exactly right. I don’t know. Um, but we had to have childcare.
Bola: [00:09:25] Looking back, it probably wasn’t the best of childcare, but it was what we could afford at the time. So, my daughter had to go to a child finder. I looked for work.
Bola: [00:10:00] I met up with friends that were colleagues who had become friends. We had to work together…
Bola: So again, that was a network that really supported me. We supported each other really. There were times when maybe some of us sort of babysat for each other. We studied together.
Bola: [00:10:21] But also, most importantly, it was having my Christian faith. And just knowing that my faith in Jesus is a great foundation of hope.
Bola: [00:11:00] No matter what the challenge is, I know what God has said about me. My future is great.
Bola: [00:11:12] So whatever I’m going through, it’s only for a season, and I will overcome.
