When we think of blessings, often we think in terms of material things such as a new car, a bigger house, better job, or a new gadget. Our scripture today gives us a clearer understanding of what it means to be blessed.

Listening and obeying God, watching and waiting on him daily by spending time in his word and prayer are elements of a blessed life. This requires us to slow down and make God a priority in our lives. Our blessing comes from embracing God and walking closely with him. Abraham and David were ordinary people like us who were blessed because of their close relationship with God. They made God a priority in their lives. Like Abraham and David, we too can cultivate our relationship with God and have a blessed life.
